Dr. Smaranda Lawrie, Psychology
Dr. Xuan Zhao
Dr. Rosemary Mugan, Executive Director of Personal Counseling at PC

This workshop explores how faculty and staff can leverage tools from the Flourish toolkit—from the most recent AI technologies in the Flourish app to experiential learning opportunities and interactive physical objects—to proactively support student well-being and build a culture of well-being and social connection. The speaker will first introduce the scientific principles of human flourishing and the STAR framework (Science-based, Timely, Action-oriented, Real-life-focused) to guide the design of effective AI-driven mental wellness tools. They will then share findings from a randomized controlled trial on how the Flourish app fosters emotional wellness and social connection. Participants will leave with case studies and actionable strategies for integrating AI into teaching, mentoring, and campus support, advancing accessibility and equity in mental health promotion.
